Safety Manager T&D
Job Summary: The Safety Manager will oversee and manage safety protocols and procedures for transmission and distribution power delivery construction projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and minimizing risks associated with high voltage environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development: Develop, review, update, and communicate the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all employees and subcontractors.
- Field Safety Management: Conduct daily field observations to ensure adherence to safety protocols and encourage craft ownership of the safety program.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Training and Education: Provide safety training and education to employees, ensuring they understand and follow safety procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and other local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, planners, and utility crews to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, audits, and training sessions, and report findings to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the transmission and distribution power delivery construction industry.
- Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) preferred. CPR/AED certification required.
- Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in safety management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, with potential for overtime and weekend work as required by project demands.
Additional Information:
- Travel may be required to various project sites.
- Night work may be necessary depending on project schedules.
