Position Overview:
As a Heavy Civil Project Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale civil construction projects. You will support the project management team in ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed efficiently, safely, and on schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented and eager to grow in the heavy civil construction field.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and management of project schedules, budgets, and resources.
Provide technical support to the project team and ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements.
Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to provide accurate and effective solutions.
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
Track and monitor project progress, including maintaining detailed project documentation and daily logs.
Perform site inspections to ensure quality control, safety, and that work is being performed according to contract requirements.
Assist with procurement of materials and equipment for the project.
Prepare and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project-related documentation.
Help manage project closeout, ensuring all documentation is complete and the project is ready for final inspection.
Experience Needed:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil engineering or project engineering, ideally within the heavy civil construction industry.
Experience working on large-scale projects such as roadways, utilities, earthwork, and infrastructure.
Familiarity with project scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and construction management tools.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
Experience with submittals, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
Previous field experience or site coordination is a plus.
Qualifications Needed:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and practices.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
OSHA 10-hour certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6 months).
