Principal Transport / Civil Engineer - Wellington

We are currently working closely with a leading specialised Traffic & Transport organisation who due to recent project success are expanding and seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Traffic Engineer.
As a Principal Traffic Engineer you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing complex traffic engineering projects. You will leverage your extensive experience in civil engineering, traffic engineering, pavement design, and drainage design to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance transportation infrastructure. Additionally, you will contribute to business development efforts, helping to identify new opportunities and secure new projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage traffic engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Develop and implement traffic management plans, signal designs, and roadway safety improvements.
  • Conduct traffic impact studies, traffic modeling, and capacity analysis to support project development.
  • Oversee pavement design and drainage design for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Engage in business development activities, including client presentations, proposal writing, and networking to secure new projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in traffic engineering and transportation planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or CPEng Qualified
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic engineering, civil engineering, pavement design, and drainage design.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex traffic engineering projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management.
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software and tools (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS).
