Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in environmental planning, with a strong background in NEPA documentation and comprehensive knowledge of local, state (NY), and federal environmental regulations. This role involves conducting environmental assessments, coordinating public meetings, and working with project engineers and designers to ensure sustainability and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental impact studies and prepare detailed reports.
- Develop and implement environmental management and conservation plans.
- Ensure compliance with NEPA and other relevant environmental laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders on environmental issues.
- Apply for permits and compile necessary documentation.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to mitigate environmental impact.
- Coordinate public awareness and education programs on environmental conservation.
- Advocate for sustainable practices and policies in urban planning and development.
- Participate in public involvement meetings and give presentations to government officials.
- Assist in the planning and execution of environmental restoration projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 7-10 years of experience in environmental planning.
- Proven experience with NEPA documentation, including Environmental Assessments (EA), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and Categorical Exclusions (CE).
- In-depth knowledge of local, state (NY), and federal environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in GIS and other environmental planning tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with public involvement and community outreach.
- Familiarity with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regulations
- Knowledge of federal environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and other EPA guidelines
