Energy Project Engineer
A leading consulting engineering firm is seeking a motivated Energy Project Engineer to support a growing portfolio of utility and renewable energy projects. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of solar, wind, BESS, and traditional utility infrastructure while enjoying a collaborative, flexible work environment.
About the Role
In this role, you will lead and support engineering design efforts for a range of civil and utility projects including electrical substations, transmission lines, solar farms, wind energy projects, BESS installations, and pipelines. You'll be responsible for managing technical design, ensuring quality control, supporting permitting efforts, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical civil design tasks from concept to construction.
Develop site plans, stormwater management designs, SWPPPs, and bid packages.
Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and contractor coordination.
Participate in project meetings, maintain accurate documentation, and manage timelines.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure quality delivery.
Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications
B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.
8-15 years of civil engineering experience, with emphasis in utility or renewable energy sectors.
PE license or ability to obtain licensure.
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D (MicroStation a plus).
Experience with utility companies, DOT permitting, SEQR, and Article VII/VIII preferred.
Prior work in land development, utility permitting, and renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
