Structural Engineer
A large national firm in Las Vegas is looking for Structural Engineers to join their firm. Candidates should be have relevant experience in commercial projects.
Job Duties:
- Manage small to moderate projects under the direction of an Associate Principal or Principal.
- Design elements, systems, and components for large projects during Design Development and Construction Document Phases.
- Evaluate alternate design schemes for code compliance, serviceability, and constructability.
- Perform analysis and design of structural elements and components.
- Develop and analyze joint and connection designs.
- Assist and direct project engineering staff with design and analysis.
- Collaborate with architects and other consultants on the overall project.
- Work with BIM staff to develop construction documents.
- Review specifications for consistency with design and completeness.
- Assist the contractor during construction with interpretation of the documents and resolution of field issues.
- Review shop drawings for conformance with Contract Documents and design errors.
- Answer RFIs and field questions.
- Provide structural observation.
- Attend design and construction meetings.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer's License (PE) or qualified to be licensed via reciprocity.
- Minimum 5 years of building design experience (preference for candidates with a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering).
- Ability to interpret codes and understand input and output of design and analysis programs.
- Ability to detail structural systems.
- Ability to check plans and details for accuracy and completeness.
- Clear and concise communication skills with design team members, architects, other consultants, building department staff, and contractors, both verbally and in writing.
Candidates should have overall project design experience for moderate or large structures, including modeling mid-rise and high-rise buildings using ETABS, STRUDL, STAAD, and/or SAP. They should be proficient in linear dynamic analysis, design of concrete shear walls, mild reinforced concrete slabs and beams, post-tensioned concrete slabs and beams, concrete columns, steel structures, mat foundations, and deep foundations. Experience with high seismic design category structures and analysis using time histories is preferred. Candidates must be proficient in the following codes, standards, and software: IBC (Current Version), ASCE 7-10, ACI 318-11, AISC Steel Manual (Current Edition), ETABS, SAP, STRUDL, STAAD, SAFE, RAM Concept, RAMSteel, RISA, ADAPT, PT Data, PT Plus, SP Column, SP Beam, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with PERFORM, ADAPT Floor Pro, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit is also required.
