Engineering Associate/Manager, Renewable Energy

Engineering Associate or Manager - Civil & Hydrology Focus
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid)

Design the Foundation of Renewable Energy at Scale

A well-established and rapidly growing clean energy investor-operator is seeking an Engineering Associate or Manager (title based on experience) with expertise in civil engineering and hydrology to support the execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

This platform owns and manages one of the largest portfolios of renewable assets in North America. Unlike pure developers or EPCs, this team owns, operates, and optimizes its projects over the long term-offering a unique opportunity to engage with infrastructure that must perform for decades.

As part of a high-performing technical group, you'll play a crucial role in shaping project outcomes, influencing site design, and ensuring technical excellence across large-scale solar and energy storage projects.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the in-house civil engineering expert across a range of utility-scale clean energy projects in development and construction

  • Lead hydrologic and hydraulic reviews, including stormwater modeling, drainage analysis, floodplain impacts, and erosion control strategy

  • Guide third-party civil and geotechnical consultants, ensuring design integrity and alignment with internal standards

  • Collaborate closely with internal development, procurement, construction, and legal teams to manage engineering risk and value

  • Support project due diligence for acquisitions and financing efforts by evaluating site viability, grading, and drainage constraints

  • Contribute to site design optimization, permitting strategy, and constructability assessments with a keen eye on hydrology impacts

  • Develop and refine internal design review workflows, tools, and best practices

Who You Are

  • A civil engineer with 4-7+ years of experience, including hands-on hydrology/hydraulics work related to large infrastructure or energy projects

  • Familiar with drainage design, SWPPPs, erosion control, grading plans, and jurisdictional permitting tied to water resource management

  • Comfortable reviewing or producing site designs using tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and GIS

  • Ideally experienced in renewable energy, but applicants from adjacent infrastructure fields (e.g., transmission, oil & gas, heavy civil) are also encouraged

  • A clear communicator, strong collaborator, and highly organized contributor who thrives in a multidisciplinary team

  • Driven by the opportunity to influence sustainable infrastructure at a national scale

Why This Role?

  • Long-Term Impact: Projects are owned, operated, and optimized over decades-not flipped-so your designs really matter

  • High-Trust Environment: A lean, well-capitalized team where engineering input is valued and directly shapes outcomes

  • Mission Meets Scale: Join a platform playing a quiet but powerful role in decarbonizing the U.S. power grid

  • Comprehensive Package: Competitive base salary, first-year guaranteed bonus, 401(k) match, full healthcare, wellness stipends, charitable match, family-building benefits, and more

If you're ready to bring hydrology and civil design expertise to the forefront of the energy transition, this role offers the chance to lead and influence at true scale.
