About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater systems to join their team in Fairfax County, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, optimization, and maintenance of infrastructure solutions that support water treatment, stormwater management, and wastewater systems. You will ensure all projects meet industry regulations and adhere to environmental best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and other water conveyance infrastructure.
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for water distribution and sewer systems to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Work closely with project teams to ensure designs meet client specifications and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Prepare proposals, technical reports, and documentation, ensuring all work meets industry standards.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
Participate in site evaluations and field assessments to ensure alignment with design requirements.
Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure designs are cutting-edge and sustainable.
Contribute to the implementation of sustainable water management practices.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in water/wastewater systems or related infrastructure projects.
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia is required.
Strong proficiency in water/wastewater engineering design principles, hydraulic modeling, and stormwater management.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to water and wastewater systems.
Experience with CADD software and engineering tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, etc.).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings as necessary.
Preferred Skills:
Experience designing water conveyance systems, wastewater treatment facilities, or stormwater management systems.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform complex calculations and design validation.
Experience with environmental permitting and compliance.
Familiarity with advanced design software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HY-8, HydroCAD) is a plus.
