Job Overview
The Senior Designer will play a key role in developing detailed design plans and drawings for civil engineering projects, ensuring technical accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. This individual will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to create innovative and sustainable design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and develop engineering design plans, drawings, and technical specifications for civil engineering projects, including roadways, drainage systems, site development, and utilities.
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce high-quality design deliverables.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure designs meet project requirements, budgets, and timelines.
Perform quality control reviews of drawings, calculations, and design elements.
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, project schedules, and design reports.
Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices.
Mentor and guide junior designers and CAD technicians, providing technical support and professional development.
Stay up-to-date with emerging industry trends, software, and design methodologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in civil engineering design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation is required.
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and design standards.
Experience with site development, grading, stormwater management, and utility design is highly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as CPD (Certified Professional Designer) or EIT (Engineer in Training) are a plus.
Knowledge of GIS and hydrology modelling software is beneficial.
