We are seeking a Senior Engineer with expertise in Hydraulics and Hydrology to join a rapidly growing engineering team in Fairfax County, VA. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater management, drainage systems, and bridge/culvert design.

  • Oversee the development of engineering design calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.

  • Coordinate design tasks with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to meet project goals and deadlines.

  • Manage project resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, helping to foster their growth and development within the company.

  • Contribute to the development of proposals, including preparation of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure that all projects meet required environmental standards and compliance.

  • Review and validate technical documentation, including plans, specifications, and estimates, for quality and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Hydraulics and Hydrology, particularly with VDOT and related projects.

  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or eligibility for licensure through comity.

  • Proven ability to analyze field survey data, maps, and topographical information for project design.

  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles, including stormwater management and floodplain studies.

  • Familiarity with FHWA, USACE, AASHTO guidelines, and VDEW Stormwater and Soil Erosion Standards.

  • Software Skills: Experience with HEC-RAS, HY-8, SRH-2D, HydroCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation (InRoads or OpenRoads), GIS software, and Storm and Sanitary Analysis is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VDEQ Stormwater Management (SWM) Plan Reviewer Certification.

  • Experience with hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, and environmental permitting.
