Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater management, drainage systems, and bridge/culvert design.
Oversee the development of engineering design calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.
Coordinate design tasks with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to meet project goals and deadlines.
Manage project resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, helping to foster their growth and development within the company.
Contribute to the development of proposals, including preparation of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure that all projects meet required environmental standards and compliance.
Review and validate technical documentation, including plans, specifications, and estimates, for quality and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Hydraulics and Hydrology, particularly with VDOT and related projects.
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or eligibility for licensure through comity.
Proven ability to analyze field survey data, maps, and topographical information for project design.
Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles, including stormwater management and floodplain studies.
Familiarity with FHWA, USACE, AASHTO guidelines, and VDEW Stormwater and Soil Erosion Standards.
Software Skills: Experience with HEC-RAS, HY-8, SRH-2D, HydroCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation (InRoads or OpenRoads), GIS software, and Storm and Sanitary Analysis is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
VDEQ Stormwater Management (SWM) Plan Reviewer Certification.
Experience with hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, and environmental permitting.
