Compensation: $150,000-$180,000+ (based on experience) + overtime pay + bonus + benefits
My client, a highly respected and long-standing MEP engineering firm based in Baltimore, is seeking a Senior Electrical Department Head to lead their electrical engineering practice. With over a century of excellence, my client is known for delivering high-quality, sustainable MEP solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects including civic, educational, healthcare, and historic preservation work.
The Role
As the Senior Electrical Department Head, you will be responsible for the leadership, growth, and strategic direction of the electrical engineering team. You will work closely with firm leadership to ensure technical excellence, mentor a talented group of engineers, and help shape the firm's vision for the future.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the electrical department, overseeing staffing, resourcing, and project delivery
Provide quality assurance and technical oversight on electrical designs
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that emphasizes innovation and client-focused solutions
Collaborate with other discipline leads to support integrated project delivery
Engage in business development, client management, and proposal efforts
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers to support their growth and professional development
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
PE license required
10+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the AEC industry
Proven leadership experience within an MEP consulting environment
Strong communication and project management skills
Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SKM/ETAP
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and building codes/standards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public sector, higher education, or healthcare projects
LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable/energy-efficient design
Existing client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic region
