Position Overview:
As a Heavy Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and earthworks. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
Review subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Work with project teams to provide ongoing cost control and financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project scope.
Coordinate with project managers and field teams to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless communication during the estimating process.
Assist in preparing bid proposals and submitting to clients in a timely manner.
Experience and Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in estimating heavy civil construction projects, with a strong understanding of roads, bridges, utilities, and earthworks.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment used in heavy civil projects.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external clients.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.
