Public Works Engineer

A reputable local civil engineering firm in the Phoenix area is seeking a talented Public Works Engineer to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with 2+ years of experience in public works and transportation engineering to advance their career in a supportive and collaborative environment. The firm is looking for candidates who ideally have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of public works and transportation engineering projects.
  • Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and designs for infrastructure improvements such as roadways, drainage systems, and traffic management solutions.
  • Work closely with project teams and clients to ensure project success from conception through completion.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, construction drawings, and specifications for a variety of public works projects.
  • Ensure all projects comply with applicable standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to senior engineering staff and project managers.
  • Participate in site inspections and project coordination activities, ensuring projects meet quality standards and timelines.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including contractors, city planners, and local agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in public works or transportation engineering.
  • Licensing:
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is acceptable if the PE license has not been obtained.
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
    • Knowledge of public works and transportation engineering principles, including road design, traffic control, and drainage systems.
    • Ability to create and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
