Job Purpose: The Project Development Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development, and execution of solar and energy storage projects. This role involves managing negotiations, contracts, budgets, and agreements, ensuring successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Development:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and scopes of work.
- Identify and originate solar, energy storage, or hybrid projects.
- Lead site identification and selection processes, including environmental impact assessments and feasibility studies.
Land Acquisition and Stakeholder Management:
- Manage land acquisition or long-term lease agreements for projects.
- Maintain relationships with landholders and negotiate land use agreements.
- Liaise with stakeholders and conduct community consultations, managing multidisciplinary teams.
Risk and Impact Assessments:
- Conduct risk assessments, environmental, cultural, and heritage impact studies.
- Collaborate with internal and external experts on resource assessments, grid connection, and project design activities.
Permitting and Compliance:
- Oversee all aspects of the permitting process, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare and submit project applications and licenses required for development.
- Work with government agencies, utilities, landowners, communities, and regulatory bodies to gain support and navigate the approval process.
Candidate Profile:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in renewable energy, with at least 1 year in early-stage project development for large-scale solar and/or storage projects.
- Skills: Proven track record in securing project approvals, effective stakeholder and community engagement, and collaboration with regulators and technical teams.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of regulations, policies, and permitting processes for solar farm and energy storage projects.
