Mid-Senior Level Geotechnical Engineer
Position Overview
A dynamic engineering firm is seeking a skilled Professional Engineer (PE) with geotechnical experience to join their team. The candidate will work on a wide variety of projects in a geologically dynamic region, collaborating with knowledgeable senior staff and motivated engineers and geologists early in their careers.
Responsibilities
- Project Management: Lead and/or collaborate on developing proposals and overseeing all stages of geotechnical projects, including field and laboratory testing, data analysis, reporting, and construction phase.
- Collaboration: Work closely with materials testing technicians and special inspectors supporting fully accredited materials testing laboratories.
- Technical Expertise: Conduct slope stability evaluations, retaining wall design, seismic hazards mitigation, foundation design criteria development, and ground improvement techniques.
Benefits and Compensation
- Employment Type: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week.
- Wage Range: $40 to $60 per hour, depending on experience.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience ingeotechnical or soils engineering, with 2 years post-PE.
- Slope stability evaluation and retaining wall design.
- Seismic hazards mitigation (liquefaction, settlement, slope failure, etc.).
- Development of foundation design criteria (shallow and deep).
- Ground improvement techniques.
- Project management.
- Skills: Familiarity with geotechnical software and tools for analysis and design. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with project teams, clients, and consultants. Experience with construction observations and working with a material testing laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
- A working knowledge of the geologic and geotechnical conditions in the northern California and southern Oregon region.
- Intention to obtain GE licensure.
Certificates and Licenses
- Professional Engineering (PE) license with registration in California.
- PE license with registration in Oregon (preferred, not mandatory).
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Valid California driver's license (Class C) and a satisfactory driving clearance.
