Water/Wastewater Safety Manager

A leading water/wastewater utility construction company is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee the safety of its water/wastewater projects across Connecticut and Massachusetts. With a robust portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, and more, the Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, compliance, and the timely completion of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all safety aspects of water/wastewater construction projects to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.

  • Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aligned with safety standards.

  • Complete thorough accident reports and lead investigations into any workplace accidents or near misses.

  • Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all job sites.

  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards, ensuring proactive solutions are implemented to minimize risks.

  • Maintain thorough safety records, reports, and documentation as required for regulatory compliance.

  • Serve as a safety resource for project teams, providing guidance and training to maintain a high standard of safety across all work sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Safety Manager in the construction industry, preferably in water/wastewater, heavy civil, or utility construction.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and best practices specific to water/wastewater construction.

  • Ability to conduct site inspections and enforce safety practices effectively across multiple projects.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of staff to promote a culture of safety.
