Overview:

We've partnered with a leading renewable energy platform on a confidential search for a Chief Operations Officer to oversee and optimize the full lifecycle of solar project execution. This executive-level role will be responsible for leading strategy and delivery across engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), operations, and asset management functions - ensuring scalable, efficient growth and high-performance results.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic yet hands-on operator, with experience leading complex infrastructure projects in the energy sector. This is a rare opportunity to shape and scale operations at a high-growth, mission-driven platform.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve scalability, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence across EPC and asset management teams

  • Work closely with executive leadership to align operations with company-wide growth goals

  • Build and monitor KPIs and performance metrics to ensure successful project delivery and asset performance

EPC & Project Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of distributed generation and community solar projects

  • Oversee design, procurement, and construction to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met

  • Establish vendor and contractor escalation frameworks for critical-path mitigation

  • Collaborate with internal systems teams to improve tools for scheduling, forecasting, and cash flow tracking

Operations & Asset Management

  • Drive performance optimization of operational solar assets

  • Implement proactive maintenance, analytics, and risk management strategies

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual obligations

Team Building & Culture

  • Lead and grow high-performing teams across engineering, construction, and operations

  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Mentor future leaders and scale internal capabilities to support growth


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in the energy sector, with a preference for community solar, DG, or utility-scale solar

  • Proven track record overseeing EPC, project delivery, and asset operations

  • Deep knowledge of energy infrastructure, project finance principles, and vendor management

  • Strong strategic thinking and operational execution abilities

  • Based in (or willing to relocate to) the Greater Toronto Area
