About the Role

My client is seeking an Assistant Electrical Manager to join their Operations Team in Ashburn, VA. This role is crucial in maintaining the reliability of electrical infrastructure in large-scale data centers. Reporting to the Electrical Manager, the ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with high-reliability data center electrical systems, including electrical distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, fire suppression, security, and building monitoring systems. The Assistant Electrical Manager will coordinate and oversee all planned and emergency maintenance to ensure uninterrupted operations of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operating and maintenance strategies for continuous availability of critical electrical systems.
  • Create and update preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Develop procedures and maintenance checklists within the site's CMMS platform.
  • Provide oversight of training programs for on-site contract staff.
  • Coordinate and inspect services performed by outsourced vendors.
  • Manage budgets and costs associated with electrical infrastructure operations.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Identify and drive innovation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to optimize electrical infrastructure in new and existing facilities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical design documents.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Project, Visio) and familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Exceptional written and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and provide strategic solutions.
  • Awareness of industry trends and their impact on data center operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to increasing efficiency.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Ability to respond to urgent issues outside of standard work hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in operations and maintenance within a high-reliability data center environment.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
