My client is seeking a Botanist/Wetland Scientist to join their Northern California teams!
About the Client:
- A California-based ecological consulting firm is in search of an ecologist to fill a mid to senior level project management position. This role requires expertise in California's vegetation and wetland ecosystems. The ideal candidate will manage projects covering vegetation assessments, regulated aquatic habitats, state and federal environmental permitting, CEQA-compliant impact analyses, and construction oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying and mapping state-regulated waters (such as tidal areas, natural drainage systems, lakes, and wetlands)
- Conducting surveys to evaluate vegetation communities and pinpoint endangered plant species
- Preparing permit applications for state and federal endeavors impacting regulated waters and sensitive plant life
- Developing strategies to mitigate project effects on regulated waters, complying with state and federal laws
- Producing documents compliant with CEQA regulations
- Mapping regulated waters Conducting botanical surveys
- Preparing permit applications
- Generating reports meeting CEQA and regulatory criteria
- Nurturing client relationships, expanding business opportunities, and crafting project proposals
- Supervising project implementation to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality benchmarks
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in botany, ecology, or a related field
- Completion of Wetland Delineation Course leading to certification
- Arborist certification (strongly preferred)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience
