Job Title: Safety Manager
Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to implement effective safety strategies across diverse work environments.
Responsibilities:
1. Safety Program Development: Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry best practices.
2. Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees to increase awareness of potential hazards, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
3. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate controls to mitigate risks.
4. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
5. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards, by maintaining accurate records, conducting audits, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
6. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and crisis management strategies.
7. Safety Communication: Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders through training sessions, meetings, and written communications.
8. Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a positive safety culture within the organization by encouraging employee involvement, recognizing safety achievements, and fostering open communication about safety concerns.
9. Safety Performance Monitoring: Monitor safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to continuously enhance safety performance.
10. Vendor and Contractor Management: Evaluate the safety performance of vendors and contractors, ensuring they adhere to safety requirements and standards while working on company premises.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
2. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety management, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
4. In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards and requirements.
5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey safety-related information to diverse audiences.
7. Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
8. Experience developing and implementing safety training programs and procedures.
9. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
