Head of Origination - DG
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a Head of Origination with a focus on Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Origination. Our client is a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a robust portfolio and a strong presence in the renewable energy sector. As part of their growth strategy, they are expanding their DG team and seeking a talented professional to play a pivotal role in driving their C&I origination efforts. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying and pursuing Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) opportunities for renewable energy projects, primarily within the C&I sector. You'll lead the sourcing, structuring, and negotiation of PPAs, leveraging your relationships and expertise to bring in new business and contribute significantly to our goal of closing over 1,000+ MW of new renewable energy power purchase transactions annually across North America. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Team to shape and execute our commercial strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the sourcing, structuring, and negotiation of PPAs, with a focus on the C&I sector.
- Bring in new business through effective negotiation and contract management.
- Leverage existing relationships to drive successful outcomes.
- Contribute to Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) sales and trading activities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team on commercial strategy development.
- Provide commercial support for tax equity, cash equity, and M&A transactions.
- Participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) response process.
- Assist in internal reporting requirements within the Origination team.
Key Details:
- No direct reports; individual contributor role.
- Travel: Up to 25%, including potential international and last-minute travel.
- Budget: No direct budget management responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Graduate degree preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in the energy industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Needs to be located in Houston!
