Overview
A prominent independent power producer is in search of a proactive and experienced Director of Project Delivery to oversee pre-construction and construction activities within the utility-scale solar sector. The preferred candidate should possess a well-rounded expertise encompassing both commercial and technical elements essential for guiding project teams throughout the solar development lifecycle. This position requires a profound comprehension of construction management, risk mitigation strategies, contract administration, and proficient leadership in the renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities
Pre-NTP Projects:
- Lead integrated project teams through pre-construction to project completion stages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments for a seamless transition from development to construction phases.
- Develop procurement strategies for late-stage projects in collaboration with Procurement.
- Negotiate with suppliers for critical long-lead items.
- Formulate construction schedules and budgets considering internal and external variables.
- Engage in design optimization processes for project readiness.
- Lead Project Managers in issuing EPC RFPs and analyzing contractor bids.
- Support Project Managers in ensuring obligations from project documents are met.
- Act as an expert in contract administration and construction management.
Post-NTP Projects:
- Continue team development and contractor relationship management.
- Oversee project execution progress and financial needs.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Actively participate in safety management.
Location
This position is based in Houston, with a hybrid office policy and occasional travel required for meetings or site visits.
Requirements
- 5+ years of utility-scale solar PV experience with 10+ years in construction or related fields.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in bid analysis, contract negotiations, and project management.
- Knowledge of solar project construction, cost, and risk identification is preferred.
